Santiago Bedoya

Professional in Film and Digital Communication, with experience in audiovisual production for documentary and fiction in roles of direction, photography and video, with extensive knowledge of photo and video editing tools, as well as color postproduction.

I am a cinematographer and photographer. Most of the time I work in audiovisual productions in the camera department, as 2nd assistant camera, operator or director of photography; in the post-production department, as a colorist; in the direction department, as 1st assistant director, actor’s coach, or director, and I’m also a scriptwriter. Although most of my work so far has been focused on documentary short films, I have also participated in several fiction projects.

Additionally, I have worked in various film industry events, such as film festivals, film markets and independent screenings. I have worked with the Algo en Común Foundation as a production assistant for the Semana del Guion, a parallel event to the Cali Film Festival, and I have been producer and programmer of independent and community film shows in Cali.

I learned to decipher the world through the lens of the camera. My father’s camera was like a magical object to discover other worlds and realities. With my father’s camera, which I sometimes took without permission, I photographed everything I was interested in: the flowers, the trees, the mountains, the dogs in the street, the buildings and old houses, and then I never saw the photos again.
